A MAP OF THE WORLD
graphite onto stone through paper
17" x 22"

A gesture of remembrance, the work exists as the action of passage. However, because of its intemporality, the performative act is experienced as a partial artifact, an effected text, a trace. Earth is projected onto the psyche as impression; a phenomena we percieve and nominate World.

ERASURESCAPES
partially erased western postcards
3.5" x 5" - 4" x 6"

Embracing the tradition of "damnatio memoriae,” the Erasurescapes series aims to combat the collective memory stored within historic western postcards. These images reflect a cultural understanding of an environment at odds with urban life: "the rural," "the west," or "wilderness"... instances of the American other. In an iconoclastic process of tedious erosion, all signs of human intervention and interference have been removed from these images, thereby restoring the memory of these landscapes to their pre-anthropocene status.

PROJECT FOR AN AMERICAN RIVER
eight stanza verse, twenty-eight graphite lyrics
each 4.5" x 12"

Choreocartagraphic proposal for an earth-scaled land-work to be enacted within an axiomatic riparian environment.
